28 May 2003 - Malaysia Airlines today unveiled an exciting new marketing package aimed at boosting domestic tourism to twenty two specially selected destinations within Malaysia, making the entire country an affordable holiday option.
The special domestic packages, with unbeatable pricing, will be offered for a limited period from 28 May - 31 August 2003. This aggressive marketing campaign is the latest move initiated by the national carrier to counteract the negative sentiment against travelling and to restore consumer confidence in air travel. Being the national carrier, Malaysia Airlines takes seriously its role in helping to revitalise the domestic tourism industry which makes such a vital contribution to the national economy.
The Minister of Culture, Arts and Tourism, YB Datuk Paduka Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir launched these packages at a leading hotel in Kuala Lumpur today.
Themed Golden Holidays Great Getaways, travellers have a selection of 22 domestic packages to choose from, with each package comprising a 3days/2nights stay, return economy airfare and accommodation, inclusive of breakfast and airport transfers.
Some packages even include a sightseeing tour. To further complement these holiday packages, there are 30 optional sightseeing tours available in addition to attractive extension of stay rates.
For travellers who are keen to experience a flexible fly-drive holiday, Malaysia Airlines has, for the first time, entered an agreement with the Car Rental Association of Malaysia to offer a comprehensive car rental arrangement covering all Malaysia Airlines destinations in Peninsular Malaysia, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching with special car rental promotional deals.
Following today`s Golden Holidays Great Getaways official launch, an energising new advertising campaign, beginning 29 May 2003, will appear in the local dailies, radio and television stations to introduce this special opportunity to the public, promoting domestic travel and selling Malaysia as a destination of choice.
The Golden Holidays Great Getaways campaign is a collaborative venture operated by Tourism Malaysia, Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH), Malaysia Association of Tourist and Travel Agents (MATTA) and the Car Rental Associations of Malaysia (CRAM), which fully supports the Cuti-Cuti Malaysia campaign.
