Southwest Airlines Reports February

DALLAS, March /PRNewswire-FirstCall/—Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV) announced today that the Company flew 3.4 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in February 2003, a 6.6 percent increase from the 3.2 billion RPMs flown in February 2002. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased 4.4 percent to 5.4 billion from the February 2002 level of 5.2 billion. The load factor for the month was 62.5 percent, compared to 61.2 percent for the same period last year.
For the first two months of 2003, Southwest flew 6.8 billion RPMs, compared to the 6.4 billion RPMs recorded for the same period of 2002, an increase of 7.2 percent. Available seat miles increased 5.3 percent to 11.4 billion from the 2002 level of 10.8 billion. The year-to-date load factor was 60.1 percent, compared to 59.0 percent for the same period last year.
