Finnair Traffic Performance November

In November Finnair carried a total of 546,100 passengers (-0.6%), 445,300 of these in scheduled traffic (-3.1%) and 100,800 in leisure traffic (+12.1%). With 5.7 % more capacity and 10.2 % more traffic (RPK), passenger load factor was 67.3 %, 2.8 points higher than last year.


Departure punctuality of scheduled flights was 83.5 % (based on a fifteen minute standard), 1.1 percentage units higher than in November 2001. Including leisure flights departure punctuality was 82.2 % (+0.6 p.u).


Scheduled traffic:
RPKs in scheduled traffic (international + domestic) increased by 10.4 %. Respectively the change in capacity was +5.1 %. Passenger load factor was 57.6 %, 2.8 percentage points higher than last year.

In scheduled international traffic, premium traffic decreased by 5.8 %, while the total number of passengers was down by 3.6 %. Capacity in ASKs was +6.8 %, and RPK increase +12.9 %. The negative change in premium traffic was largely caused by the transfer of Helsinki-Tallinn operations to Finnair subsidiary Aero Airlines since June 1st. The adjusted change-% is -1,0 %.

In European scheduled traffic, decrease in ASKs was -1.9 %, and as RPKs decreased by 2.2 %, there was a -0.1 p.u. decrease in passenger load factor to 47.8 % from previous year.

In North Atlantic scheduled traffic, capacity was increased by 8.9 %. Change in RPKs was +9.8 %, and passenger load factor for November was 57.8 %, 0.5 p.u. up from previous year. Premium traffic increased by 70.7 %.

In Far East scheduled traffic, capacity was increased by 27.0 %. The passenger traffic increased by 38.2 %. Passenger load factor was 78.4 %, 6.4 percentage units up. The number of premium passengers more than doubled from previous year.

Domestic scheduled traffic decreased by 1.0 % on a capacity decrease of 2.6 %. Passenger load factor improved by 0.8 p.u. to 53.8 %.

Leisure traffic: ASKs for leisure traffic was increased in November by 6.9 %, and RPKs increased accordingly by 10.0 %, resulting in a passenger load factor of 87.0 %, 2.5 points higher than previous year.
