First Alitalia Boeing 777 Set to Make Its Debut

The first Boeing 777-200ER (extended range) jetliner for Alitalia shows off its colors for the first time as it leaves a Boeing paint hangar in Everett, Wash., near Seattle. The airplane, the first of six Boeing 777s ordered by Rome-based Alitalia, is scheduled to go into regular service this fall. Alitalia plans to use the new 777s on international flights to North and South America, and to Asia. The Alitalia 777, with 291 seats, has a spacious award-winning interior designed to provide maximum comfort to passengers on longer transcontinental flights. The passenger cabin features larger overhead stowage bins that are designed to open downward for convenient loading but still allow ample overhead clearance when closed. The architecture of the 777`s ceiling provides passengers not only with more space but the feel of a more spacious, open environment.
