Statement On Hong Kong Disruption Plan By Tony Tyler

Safety must always be the top priority of any airline and aircrew. The AOA clearly undermines itself and professional pilots generally when it uses safety as a blunt club in an industrial action. Cockpits—and flight manuals—are no place for trade union activity. The Hong Kong public will see the union`s document for what it is, a plan to disrupt Hong Kong`s major airline and the Hong Kong tourism industry.
The detailed 27-page document offers recommendations on how to interpret the airline`s Operations Manuals in order to cause maximum flight delays.

If only the union had invested as much time in negotiations as it did in preparing this document, we could have reached an amicable settlement by now.
