Delta Air Lines Reports June Traffic

ATLANTA, July 3, 2002—Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) today reported traffic results for the month of June 2002. System traffic decreased 5.7 percent on a capacity decrease of 5.6 percent from June 2001. Delta’s system load factor was 77.3 percent, down 0.1 points year over year.


Year-over-year traffic and capacity comparisons are impacted by Comair’s suspension of service between March 26, 2001, and July 1, 2001, due to a strike by Comair pilots.


Domestic traffic in June 2002 decreased 4.4 percent on a capacity decrease of 3.3 percent. Domestic load factor was 75.3 percent, down 0.8 points from the same period a year ago. International traffic decreased 9.4 percent on a 12.3 percent decrease in capacity. International load factor was 84.0 percent, up 2.8 points from the same period last year.
During June, Delta operated its schedule at a 99.0 percent completion rate, compared to 96.7 percent from June 2001. Delta boarded 9,482,549 passengers during the month of June.
