Continental Airlines Named to HISPANIC Magazine`s `Corporate 100: Most Opportunities to Hispanics`

HOUSTON, February 5, 2002—Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL) has been listed for the fifth consecutive year in HISPANIC Magazine’s “Hispanic Corporate 100: One Hundred Companies Providing the Most Opportunities for Hispanics,” which appears in the January/February 2002 issue.
“At Continental, we make decisions about how to run our airline by continually considering our customers’ preferences, and we treat our passengers as well as our co-workers with dignity and respect,” said Gordon Bethune, Continental`s chairman and CEO. “We are proud that these efforts have helped earn Continental a place in HISPANIC Magazine’s ‘Corporate 100’ list.”
Continental is one of 20 corporations highlighted in the article, which focuses on Continental’s Spanish-language automated flight information system, bilingual flight attendants, and bilingual flight information monitors in the Houston airport. The article also mentions the airline’s support of the Amigos de las Américas organization in Latin American communities and of U.S. Hispanic organizations.
“As the U.S. Hispanic population grows, along with the Latino purchasing power and influence, these companies realize the potential of the Hispanic community. High-level Hispanic executives, billions of dollars in donations to Latin organizations, and Spanish-language products and services are just a few reasons why these (20) companies top our list,” the article says. Companies are selected for the listing based on a survey of recruitment efforts, diversity training, minority business initiatives and donations to Latino communities.
