There was talk in the Dominican Republic that the communication between the hoteliers and the Tourism Board had been poor, largely on the tourism boards behalf. One ex Dom Rep hotelier Lars Geweyer said of the relationship in a recent interview with Caribbean Weekly; “The Tourism Minister of the Dominican Republic does not correspond satisfactory to the hoteliers, bearing in mind that Tourism presents approx 40 % of the total economy.”
