Marriott Vacation Club International Announces A New Addition In Aruba

Marriott Vacation Club International (MVCI), the vacation ownership division of Marriott International Inc. (NYSE:MAR), recently announced the development of its second resort in Aruba, Marriott’s Aruba Surf Club. Targeted to open November 2004, the 450-villa resort is adjacent to MVCI’s 218-villa property, Marriott’s Aruba Ocean Club, and the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino. Situated in northwest Aruba, the new resort is also conveniently located near Oranjestad, the island’s capital and only seven miles from Queen Beatrix Airport.
“We are thrilled to bring another quality Marriott Vacation Club International resort to Aruba,” stated Stephen P. Weisz, president, Marriott Vacation Club International. “Our first resort in Aruba has seen great success as it is targeted to sell out nearly three years ahead of schedule. We anticipate Marriott’s Aruba Surf Club will enjoy this type of enthusiasm.”
The resort is proposed to feature 430 two-bedroom/two-bath (1,195 square feet) and 20 three-bedroom/three-bath (1,707 square feet) villas with garden view, oceanside, oceanview or oceanfront views. Each villa will provide a master suite with a deep-soaking tub, fully-equipped kitchen, living and dining areas, multiple televisions and a VCR and stackable washer/dryer. One bedroom will include a kitchenette with a microwave, undercounter refrigerator and a bar sink to allow for the lock-off option. Sales for Marriott’s Aruba Surf Club are now underway with an average pre-construction price of $18,805 per week of ownership.
