ChoiceHotels.com, the Internet site of lodging franchisor Choice Hotels International (NYSE:CHH), was recently awarded the 1999 Golden Eagle Award from American Photojournal Home & Travel Internet Magazine.
The award honors websites that demonstrate superior performance in downloading, navigation, usefulness, organization, clarity, graphics, uniqueness and customer satisfaction.
More than 4,000 hotels in 36 countries around the world, marketed under the brand names Comfort, Quality, Clarion, Sleep Inn, Econo Lodge, Rodeway Inn and MainStay Suites, are represented on ChoiceHotels.com. Launched in 1995, the site was the first in the hotel industry to provide “real time” access to a central reservations system - CHOICE 2001.
“The Choice website, which generated more than $13 million in reservations last year, is an integral part of our reservations network,” said Gary Thomson, vice president information systems technologies. “We are very proud of the site’s design and development and are delighted with this recognition.”
Bookings via Choice’s website during the month of April have more than tripled over the number of bookings from April 1998. More than 500,000 people on average visit the site each month.
Choice’s site offers web surfers easy booking capabilities and instant confirmation, a special 10 percent Internet discount, information about hotel amenities, nearby restaurants, shopping and attractions and door to door maps and directions from home or business to all Choice brand hotels.
The Choice site also offers a “Deals of the Week” section which highlights packages and special rates at select Choice brand hotels.
Choice was also the first hotel chain to develop “Travel Agent City,” a site within choicehotels.com that is dedicated exclusively to travel agents.
