Continental Airlines Kicks Off the Millennium with International Savings Through Its Web site

Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL and CAL.A) is kicking off the millennium with savings on international fares to Europe and Latin America as low as $179 when customers purchase tickets on Continental’s web site www.continental.com.

Roundtrip fares from the United States to select European destinations start at $199 and fares to Latin America start at $179. Trans-Atlantic tickets from the 48 contiguous United States must be purchased for travel departing on Jan. 1, 2000, and returning between Jan. 7 and Jan. 12, 2000. Tickets to Latin American destinations from the U.S. must be purchased for travel departing between Dec. 31, 1999, and Jan. 2, 2000, and returning between Jan. 6 and Jan. 12, 2000. Tickets must be purchased on Continental’s web site.


Separately, Continental today announced its Global Fare Sale, which offers five percent off eligible travel to destinations throughout the world when the tickets are purchased on Continental’s web site. This discount does not apply to the millennium kick-off sale.

Customers who purchase qualifying tickets online through Continental’s web site will receive a five percent discount on travel between Jan. 4, 2000, and April 3, 2000, to the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. Trans-Atlantic travel can originate between Dec. 23, 1999, and March 31, 2000, and travel must be completed by April 8, 2000. Tickets must be purchased by Dec. 21, 1999, and at least a 3-day advance purchase is required.


International fares do not include Passenger Facility Charges of up to $12 and international taxes and fees of up to $98.50 for Europe and $67 for Latin America. The five percent discount is applied prior to the addition of Passenger Facility Charges and other governmental taxes and fees. Tickets are nonrefundable, seats are limited and other restrictions may apply.

Continental Airlines’ web site (http://www.continental.com or America Online keyword: Continental) continues to be top-rated among consumer polls. This summer, the web site was rated No.1 in customer satisfaction for the third consecutive time by NPD Online Research. Continental and its online agency Novo Interactive/Blue Marble also won the Association of National Advertisers’ CASIE Award, which honors the most effective advertising and marketing on the Internet.
