Sabre Holdings Corporation announced today an agreement with Grupo Barcelo Viajes, a Palma de Mallorca-based Spanish travel company. By virtue of this agreement, more than 60 Grupo Barcelo offices throughout Latin America will use the Sabre reservation system.
“Our growing operation needs strategic allies such as Sabre to build the business of the future. The former provider/customer relationship is now being replaced by strategic alliances geared towards long-term business,” said Jose Brichs, Chief Executive Officer of Grupo Barcelo Viajes, who is responsible for this area.
Grupo Barcelo Viajes is one of the leading groups in the Spanish and Latin American tourist industries. The group`s activities encompass the wholesale, retail and reservations areas using the brands Barcelo Viajes, Interopa Viajes, Barcelo Business IT Travel, Eurojet Viajes, Calcos Barcelo Viajes, Barcelo Business Verger, Viajes Aurora, Hoteljet and TURAVIA.

This agreement will enable Grupo Barcelo Viajes (GBV) to scale up its technology with Sabre solutions, including upgrades to GBV reservation operations by integrating GBV internal applications with Sabre`s last generation solutions. Sabre products will help manage point-of-sale processes more efficiently.
Sabre will also enrich Grupo Barcelo`s customer service initiatives by offering their customers real-time itineraries, destination information and relevant content using Sabre Virtually There. Passengers making their reservations through Grupo Barcelo agencies will be able to access their itineraries on the Internet, PDAs or via WAP-enabled cellular phones.
