Caribbean swine flu cases rise

The number of swine flu cases in the Caribbean continues to grow with latest World Health Organization figures putting the total close to 20.The Dominican Republic has seen a recent increase in influenza A(H1N1) infection cases, leading the region now with 11 reported cases. Cuba has managed to contain its total to four but the Bahamas this week joined the list.

The Bahamas this week reported one confirmed case. Jamaica for its part, only has two while Puerto Rico has one.

Overall, there are a reported 19,273 cases of the disease and 117 deaths. The U.S. has surpassed Mexico to register 10,053 cases so far. However, Mexico has the most deaths at 97 compared to 17 in the U.S.
