The Maritim Hotelgesellschaft mbH’s overseas portfolio continues to grow with the addition of a second hotel in China. HMS International Hotel GmbH - responsible for Maritim’s overseas acquisitions - signed the management contract for the new property near Shanghai on the 15th of April 2009.Located in Anting, the new five star Maritim Hotel Hui Zun is currently under construction and is scheduled to open its doors in time for the Expo - Shanghai on the 1st of May 2010. The hotel is housed within one of two connected towers and will provide guests with 288 rooms and a comprehensive range of meeting facilities.
The lobby level includes a German restaurant, a buffet restaurant and a bar, while the level above will have a restaurant serving local cuisine, a number of private rooms around 20 sqm in size each and a karaoke area. Atop these levels are the 23 storey hotel tower and a four storey conference facility with a number of various catering provisions. To ensure guests enjoy their stay to the fullest, a spacious spa facility with swimming pool, sauna, fitness room as well as private cabins for cosmetic applications and massage treatments is also planned.
The hotel rooms are located between the 5th and 22nd floors with the top three serving as ‘Executive Floors’. These levels have their own business and VIP lounge with private check-in/checkout, secretarial services and round the clock provisions including exclusive breakfast, snacks, beverages and a nightly ‘open bar’. Every room will be air-conditioned, equipped with a SAT TV and provide internet access.
Various rooms and halls covering between 30 sqm and 400 sqm are planned to ensure the conference area is able to cater to a flexible range of events. The hotel occupies an enviable spot in one of Anting’s most sought-after inner city districts. There is a new subway station adjacent the hotel that provides an ideal way to quickly and efficiently reach Shanghai some 34 kilometres away. Shanghai’s Hongqiao International Airport is only around 25km away.
Among other notable companies, Anting is home to the German-Chinese joint venture behind China’s largest automobile manufacturer, Volkswagen - and is considered one of the country’s most important automotive centres. It’s also home to the Chinese Grand Prix and has hosted the Formula 1 since 2004. Still on an automotive note, the ‘Auto Exhibition Center’ theme park is a must for all motoring enthusiasts and draws visitors from around the world. Frankfurt architects, Albert Speer & Partner GmbH have also literally broken new ground with their many contributions to the ‘Shanghai-Anting New Town’.
Increasing the portfolio with a second hotel project in China represents another significant milestone in Maritim’s international expansion. Along with the existing property - the Maritim Hotel U-Town in Beijing which will open on the 1st of September 2009 - the hotel in Shanghai-Anting means the company is present in yet another major Asian metropolis.
With its current portfolio of 49 hotels, the Maritim Hotelgesellschaft is one of Germany’s leading hotel groups. 12 of its hotels are located overseas in Turkey (Belek, Marmaris and Alanya), four in Egypt (three in Sharm El Sheikh and one in Luxor), in Riga, on Malta, on Mauritius, on Majorca and on Tenerife. The company plans on further solidifying its strong position within the European first class hotel industry through ongoing expansion.
