IHG celebrates 150th hotel

Following three years of aggressive development activity and brand
expansion, InterContinental will welcome the opening of its 150th hotel this November.the new-build, 500-room
InterContinental Dubai Festival City in the U.A.E.*  This milestone will
be followed days later when the brand opens its first hotel in Vietnam
—the 359-room InterContinental Hanoi Westlake. 

These two hotels join an impressive collection of new properties. In the
last year (Oct 2006—Sept 2007), 11 new hotels in six countries have
been opened, including flagships InterContinental Boston and
InterContinental London Park Lane; the conversion of InterContinental
Los Angeles Century City; two InterContinental hotels in Greater China
—Shenzhen and Jiuzhai Paradise and Japan’s first two co-branded ANA
InterContinental properties—ANA InterContinental Tokyo and The
Strings by InterContinental Tokyo.

 

Currently, InterContinental’s pipeline consists of 50 hotels in more
than 20 countries.  Some of the hotels scheduled to open in the next

InterContinental Century City Chengdu, China—October 2007

Located in the dynamic Century City complex, InterContinental Century
City Chengdu will combine the latest in communication and business
technologies, high-end food and beverage options and conference
facilities with InterContinental’s trademark “in the know” service. The
property will feature 560 luxury guest rooms and suites, each fitted
with 42-inch plasma televisions and walk-in wardrobes, as well as a
Presidential Suite that encompasses nearly 18,000 square feet of pure
luxury. Amenities include 24-hour butler service, the Spa
InterContinental for rejuvenating treatments and seven food and beverage
outlets including a Tea Lounge serving more than 100 varieties of
Chinese tea.

 

InterContinental Dubai Festival City—November 2007

Located on Dubai Creek and with stunning views in every direction,
InterContinental Dubai Festival City is set to become a new city
landmark. At 35-floors high, the property will boast more than 500
exquisitely designed rooms, including 120 suites, three Presidential
Suites and one Royal Suite.  The hotel will offer exceptional dining and
entertainment options, including /Bistro Madeleine/ - Quintessential
Parisian Bistro Café; /Al Sultan Brahim Beirut/ - Lebanese seafood
restaurant, an authentic multi-station Japanese restaurant, /Edamame/,
created by the award-winning interior design team from Super Potato, and
an “experiential” restaurant which will be brought to life by one of the
world’s most highly-awarded Michelin-star chefs Pierre Gagnaire. In
addition, guests will have ample opportunity to relax and unwind, thanks
to five pools, a sun terrace and leisure garden, and spa. There will
also be 40,300 square-foot multi-level conference centre with meeting
space that can be divided into 10 break-out rooms that can accommodate
as many as 1,800 guests.

 

InterContinental Hanoi Westlake, Vietnam—November 2007

Built entirely on and over Hanoi’s largest lake, this unique and
beautiful hotel is a seven minute drive from the historic heart of the
city.  The property will boast 359 guest rooms, including 19 suites, all
with private balconies and most with water views, as well as three
distinctive Island Pavilions, which will be connected to the main hotel
building by elegant Venetian style bridges and contain 60 rooms and
suites each.  Other features include two restaurants - a contemporary
French brasserie and an international multi-cuisine restaurant - and
three bars, such as the spectacular Sunset Bar, which is built on its
own island.  Guests can take advantage of an outdoor swimming pool and
recreation area, including children’s pool, health club and spa.  The
hotel will be able to accommodate up to 700 guests in its grand
InterContinental Ballroom and will feature seven meeting rooms.

Grand H™tel InterContinental Stockholm—January 2008

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts will proudly open its first hotel in
Scandinavia with the re-branding of Grand H™tel Stockholm.  Located at
the/ //Södra Blasieholmshammen//,/ the hotel features 376 stylish guest
rooms, of which 42 are suites, including the Princess Lilian Suite and
Flag Suite which are situated on the top floors and offer panoramic
views across the city. All individually designed, each room has its own
distinctive character and history. The hotel features two premier
restaurants - the Veranda Restaurant and the highly acclaimed Restaurant
Mathias Dahlgren and the chic Cadier Bar.

 

InterContinental San Francisco—January 2008

Located in San Francisco’s South of Market Area (SOMA), InterContinental
San Francisco will be at the corner of Howard and Fifth streets and
adjacent to the new Moscone West Convention Center.  The property joins
its sister hotel, the InterContinental Mark Hopkins San Francisco, a
city icon since 1926.  The 32-story high-rise will include 550
guestrooms and three complete floors of meeting space, which will be
housed in a tower designed to complement Moscone West. With over 43,000
square feet of meeting and function space, the hotel will have one of
the largest meeting facilities in San Francisco.  Hotel amenities will
include a two-level Presidential Suite with sweeping views of the Bay
Area, state-of-the-art technology in guest rooms, meeting space and
public areas, 8,000 square-foot full-service spa and health club,
boasting an indoor lap pool, and spacious terraces for public use.

 

InterContinental Qingdao, China—March 2008

Situated in China’s Shandong province, the new 438-room InterContinental
Qingdao will boast an enviable waterfront location and will be part of
the 45-hectare integrated Olympic Water Sports Centre at Fushan Bay,
which will host the sailing events of the 2008 Olympics. The complex
will feature an international conference centre with state-of-the-art
meeting facilities that will be able to accommodate up 2,000 guests, as
well as a cruise terminal, marina and yachting club and extensive
shopping, entertainment and recreation facilities.

 

InterContinental Beijing North, China—April 2008

As InterContinental’s second luxury hotel in Beijing, this 350-room
hotel will be the Beijing Olympic Centre’s first luxury hotel. The
InterContinental will be positioned just steps away from the Olympic
National Stadium, Aquatic Centre and the proposed National Convention
Centre. Currently, InterContinental Hotels Group is the largest
international hotel operator in Greater China, with a portfolio of 59
hotels in primary cities and secondary locations across four brands. The
company is on track towards having 125 hotels open in China by the end
of 2008.

InterContinental Milan Grand Hotel Duomo—June 2008

Set on Milan’s spectacular Piazza Duomo, in a building that was
originally built entirely from marble, InterContinental Milan Grand
Hotel Duomo is scheduled to open after a significant renovation just in
time for 2008 Fashion Week. The property will be transformed into one of
Europe’s finest hotels, featuring 137 contemporary and stylish guest
rooms, including 17 suites. Amenities will include a new top floor
signature restaurant - with a soon-to-be named leading chef - boasting
fabulous views across the square, a spa and health club, as well as
three meeting rooms for corporate clients.

InterContinental Montelucia Resort & Spa, Scottsdale, Arizona—Summer
2008

Comprised of 28 lushly landscaped acres, InterContinental Montelucia
Resort & Spa will be the brand’s first resort property in the U.S.
Featuring a distinct ambience influenced by the architecture and
lifestyle of Andalusia in southern Spain, the resort will be comprised
of 292 rooms and suites, a signature restaurant with breathtaking views
of Camelback Mountain, a 30,000 square-foot spa conceived by renowned
spa designer Sylvia Sepielli, five pools and numerous fountains,
unparalleled indoor and outdoor meeting space, a wedding chapel and an
assortment of boutiques. The resort will also offer 34 luxurious
detached, single-family villas, ranging from 3,800 to 4,700 square feet,
meticulously designed to create a magnificent private living
environment.  All guests and residents will have access to the
property’s luxurious services and amenities.


InterContinental Resort & Spa, Krems, Austria, Autumn 2008

The InterContinental Resort & Spa in Krems, Austria will open as part of
an integrated European healthcare complex. The newly built 119 room
hotel and 120 room healthcare clinic is set to open in Autumn 2008. The
healthcare clinic, known as the Austrian Heart Center, will include five
operating theatres and will specialize in treating heart diseases. The
resort has been designed to create a tranquil yet exclusive atmosphere
ideal for recovering patients, their visitors and families as well as
guests looking to enjoy a health and spa holiday.  The resort will
overlook the scenic Wachau Valley near the city of Krems, less than an
hour from Vienna International Airport.  Its location among the
vineyards of the region and with views of the Danube River will give it
a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.
