VisitBritain launches online campaign

To celebrate the release of ITV1’s major new summer series Britain’s Favourite View, VisitBritain has produced a special edition map and dedicated microsite. Presented by Sir Trevor McDonald, the series begins on Sunday 12 August and showcases 16 spectacular locations that illustrate the diversity and splendour of the British landscape.

VisitBritain’s domestic marketing team - Enjoy England - has worked with the UK’s national tourist boards to compile the map and microsite, with particular input from the Northern Ireland Tourist Board. The map helps to guide visitors round a total of 43 views, taking visitors right across the nation. An extra 18 views will also be available on the website.

Each episode of Britain’s Favourite View will feature four well-known personalities authoring a short film shot in a part of the British Isles which has a particular place in their hearts. Clive Anderson treads lightly on Hadrian’s Wall; Sir Ranulph Fiennes scales the heights of Bath; Meera Syal rediscovers her own Waterloo Sunset whilst Eddie Irvine takes the driving seat to Strangford Lough, County Down.

At the end of the show viewers will get the opportunity to vote for their favourite view, with the winning location from each show going through to a live final where a public vote will determine Britain’s Favourite View.

From architectural marvels to shimmering seas; purple-clad moorlands to rolling hills; towering castles to contemporary wonders; VisitBritain’s new campaign aims to inspire Brits to explore and discover their own personal panoramas.
