Tiger Airways add third base in Asia

Asian low-cost carrier Tiger Airways, which is half owned by Singapore Airlines Ltd., plans to add a third base in Southeast Asia to support its network expansion, the Straits Times reported, citing company Chief Executive Tony Davis. Davis also said he is hopeful that a route between Singapore and Malaysia - which is currently restricted - will be open to competition sometime in 2007, the paper reported.

The carrier, which has bases in Singapore and the Philippines, flies to destinations across Southeast Asia, and has approval from Singaporean regulators to begin flights to India.
