Qantas reveals new designer products

Qantas has collaborated with some of Australia’s leading designers to launch a new generation of premium inflight products.The First and Business
Class products include new amenity kits, soft furnishings, crockery
and
glassware and were launched on 25 March. Australian industrial
designer
Marc Newson oversaw the development process and worked with a number
of
other iconic Australians including restaurateur and designer of
Qantas’
premium menus Neil Perry, and fashion designers Collette Dinnigan,
Akira
Isogawa and Peter Morrissey to create an exclusive dining and
relaxation
experience:

  á  New amenities collections Female customers in First receive a
floral
designed silk purse by Collette Dinnigan containing a selection of
hydrating skincare products from leading French cosmetic company
Payot
Paris, whilst male customers receive a functional and stylish
zippered
pod in chocolate suede designed by Akira Isogawa, containing products
by
Payot. Business travellers will be treated to Marc Newson-designed
kits
filled with moisturising products from Australian brand
Ultraceuticals.
Additional comfort items are available for customers to personalise
their kits.

  á  Pyjamas in Business and First Qantas now offers pyjamas to
customers
in Business for the first time. The soft cotton pyjamas designed by
Peter Morrissey are available on long haul international night
flights.
In First, Akira Isogawa has designed pyjamas with matching eyeshade
and
slippers.

  á  Soft furnishings First and Business customers will sleep more
soundly thanks to enhanced soft furnishings and larger pillows.
Blankets
in both premium cabins feature an innovative cotton sheet backing,
while
in First the duvets are even more luxurious and generous, resembling
those of a five star hotel.

  á  Crockery A new suite of white bone china crockery has been
introduced in International First and Business and includes a
contemporary tea set designed by Marc Newson and manufactured
exclusively by Noritake for Qantas.

  á  Cutlery First and Business cutlery designed by Marc Newson and
produced by Alessi extends the premium restaurant feel to the onboard
environment.

  á  Glassware Marc Newson has brought his vision to the design of an
exclusive range of glassware. The beautifully shaped new range
features
items such as a premium wine glass, shot glass and glass dessert
bowl.

  á  Linen New table linen has been created to add the finishing touch
to a world-class dining experience.

  á  Non-slip trays Qantas has become the first airline to introduce
non-slip trays. Not only is Marc Newson’s design of the new trays aesthetically innovative but by eliminating the need for tray liners
it is more environmentally friendly.
