SriLankan unveils ground handling website

SriLankan Airlines, which provides ground handling services for all
airlines at Colombo’s Bandaranaike International Airport, has launched a
website www.srilankan.aero/groundhandling with detailed information
for the convenience of new customer airlines and infrequent customers.SriLankan Airlines Ground Handling is one of the major ground and cargo
handlers in the region with 27 years experience. It currently serves 22
regular customer airlines and ad hoc users (airlines and aircraft
operators who use BIA but are not airlines operating scheduled passenger
services).

Nigel O’Shea, Head of Service Delivery at SriLankan, said: “Sri Lanka’s
geographical location, coupled with our high standards of service, has
made it a popular and convenient stopover point for aircraft of all
types, from military aircraft en route to another part of the world, to
executive jets. The website is designed to provide information at the
fingertips of those who want to know about the services and facilities
we offer at BIA.”

 

SriLankan Airlines’ services at BIA include passenger and baggage
handling, aircraft maintenance, aircraft servicing and cleaning,
aviation security, cargo and mail handling, catering services, executive
aviation handling, crew administration, co-ordination of fueling with
other parties, load control and communications, ramp services, surface
transport of passengers and crew, hotel accommodation, and leisure
activities.

Ajith Fernando, Manager Airport Service Support, said: “Ad hoc carriers
are an important customer segment for SriLankan Airlines, and account
for approximately 10% of ground handling revenue. We intend to expand
this business by enhancing convenience for our customers.”

 

Prospective customers could even request quotations on-line for whatever
services they require.

 

The website also provides information on all other services provided by
SriLankan, and also promotes the many attractions of Sri Lanka as a
destination for all types of tourism. A list of customer airlines is
also on the website, as is useful information such as the contact
details of Airport & Aviation Services (AASL), Customs, the Ceylon
Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
