Air New Zealand is expected to announce a new long-haul route this week, most likely Vancouver, Canada, the Dominion Post reported Monday. The unsourced report said new routes typically have a five-month lead time, suggesting the first flight would be about July. The airline’s new Boeing 777-200ERs can fly direct to Vancouver with a restricted cargo load.

Air NZ declined comment on the report, but has previously committed to adding a new long-haul route each year, with plans to add direct flights to Vancouver, Johannesburg, Mumbai, Sao Paulo, Santiago and Beijing.
