Oahu Bureau supports breast cancer

The Oahu Visitors Bureau (OVB) has brought together destination partners to create an annual campaign that will give travelers an opportunity to join the fight against breast cancer while vacationing on the island of Oahu.ÊThe fall campaign, called Travel Pink, Travel Oahu, will support the Hawaii Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation by increasing breast cancer awareness and by offering special packages that support the organization.

“Since the island of Oahu is a special place for rejuvenating from daily stresses and reconnecting with oneself and loved ones, we wanted to create a campaign that would help the thousands of women who are battling breast cancer,” said Noelani Schilling-Wheeler, senior director of sales and marketing, Oahu Visitors Bureau.Ê“Many of today’s travelers are also looking for a way to contribute to a cause and positively impact others during their travels.ÊTravel Pink, Travel Oahu gives visitors to Oahu an opportunity to help efforts to find a cure for this deadly disease.”

“As more than 215,000 women in the U.S. are diagnosed with breast cancer every year, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is fighting to eradicate this disease by funding research grants and supporting education in communities around the world,” said Jeri Steiner, executive director of the Hawaii Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation of Hawaii. “The Travel Pink, Travel Oahu campaign will greatly support our efforts.ÊWe are delighted to form this partnership with the island of Oahu, which has become known around the world as place to visit to escape, relax, rejuvenate, and heal.”
