Bank Holiday UK travel boom

Hoseasons has reported an unprecedented level of bookings in the last few days as the company prepares for its busiest ever Bank Holiday Weekend in over 60 years of business.

According to the company, the phones have been red hot as the UK market sees a surge in interest in short breaks that don’t involve flying. The demand has meant a significant rise in requests for parks, lodges, cottages and boats right across the UK.

But it isn’t just concerns about flying that have resulted in the buying frenzy. The combination of exceptionally hot weather in July, the World Cup and changes in booking patterns with holidaymakers leaving the plans to the last minute, has resulted in an increase in UK bookings throughout the whole summer period and into autumn.

“We’ve never experienced anything like it,” said Richard Carrick, Chief Executive of Hoseasons. “Availability right across the UK in cottages, boats, parks and lodges is being snapped up at a fantastic rate and we are currently averaging over 1000 calls and web visits per hour - one every 3.5 seconds - as people are desperate to have a UK break this weekend. “

“A combination of circumstances this summer has resulted in a real interest in UK holidays and we hope that the interest we are currently seeing will be replicated next years as more people rediscover the delights of a UK break.”
