Alaska Air signs on Galileo

Galileo International is signing a five-year, full content enterprise agreement with Alaska Airlines, the major U.S. West Coast air carrier. Through the agreement, all of Alaska’s published fares and inventory will be available to all users of the Galileo GDS system, including Galileo-connected travel agencies, corporate customers and Travelport online agencies booking through Galileo.

“Through this partnership, we are delighted to provide our customers with full access to Alaska Airlines’ fares and inventory through our offline and online distribution channels,” said Kurt Ekert, senior vice president, Supplier Services for Travelport. “Our customers have long expressed a strong desire to further exploit the efficiency of the GDS when booking Alaska Airlines, which is a key carrier for our Galileo-powered agencies, especially those on the West Coast.”

As part of the program, Alaska Airlines has become a participating carrier in Galileo’s Content Continuity Program, an optional program that protects U.S. customers from airline service fees and at the same time, addresses airlines’ desire for reduced distribution costs.
“We are pleased to provide our key travel agent partners who are also Galileo subscribers with access to our full content,” said Steve Jarvis, vice president of Sales and Customer Experience for Alaska Airlines. “This agreement allows Alaska to achieve our key business objectives to grow revenue and effectively manage our distribution costs.”
