Press: Pilots union reaches Swiss Air deal

Swiss International Air Lines, a unit of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, has reached an outline contract deal with its pilots’ union to take effect Nov. 1, Neue Zuericher Zeitung reported Sunday. Swiss and the pilots’ union agreed not to disclose details of the agreement until the details of a full agreement have been reached, the paper said.

Previous talks had ended without a deal at the end of June, with the pilots’ union threatening to strike over the matter. While Swiss has demanded cost cuts of 30%, the union previously had offered 20% in cost savings.
