Orchard Singapore unveils re-design

The Orchard Hotel in Singapore, one of
five Singapore
hotels owned and operated under the Millennium brand, has announced the
unveiling of
a multi-million dollar renovation of the hotel’s Signature Club Rooms. The new rooms
are exquisitely designed by renowned French interior designer
Pierre-Yves Rochon,
known for his work at the Four Seasons George V in Paris and L’Hotel
Hermitage in
Monte Carlo among other luxury properties worldwide. Rochon’s vibrant
designs at the
Orchard Hotel fuses contemporary and classic designs with a strong
Eastern flavor
and distinctly European interpretation.

“Orchard Hotel’s Signature Club rooms will serve as the latest benchmark
for the
Millennium & Copthorne Hotels’ (M&C) new hotel concepts and services
that seamlessly
blend East and West. These initiatives will gradually be extended to
more M&C hotels
in the coming years where applicable, and also to other refurbishment
projects in
our hotels in gateway cities around the world. This initiative will
bring M&C
another step closer in our quest to create memorable experiences for our
guests,”
said Mr Kwek Leng Beng, chairman, Millennium & Copthorne Hotels plc, the
parent
company of Millennium Hotels and Resorts, North America.

Signature Club Rooms
Rochon has created a fusion of contemporary and classic design for the
signature
Club rooms with the use of three vibrant color schemes which he has
titled “the
three harmonies.” The color schemes consist of luxurious Regal Red,
tranquil Ming
Blue and soothing Celadon Green. These three signature colors are each
interwoven
with predominantly European black for a startling visual impact.

The interior architecture makes clever use of sliding panels, typical of
Chinese
houses and mood lighting that varies between daylight and night,
bringing a dramatic
range to the color schemes during different times of the day. The decor
features
contemporary and Chinese type furniture and art. Contemporary European
and
traditional Chinese paintings and engravings add to the ambience.

Explaining the concept, Rochon said: “The Regal Red room spells
vibrancy, aided by
generous doses of black in the furniture and wood panels. The Ming Blue
room is both
traditional and timeless, and conjures up a sense of nostalgia for the
sentimental
guest. The Celadon Green scheme instantly creates a bright and cheery
first
impression, reminding one of the freshness of spring.”
