South Korea air industry on English alert

South Korea’s aviation industry is on an English language alert, as a revised government regulation has raised the minimum fluency level required of participants operating at the international level, industry watchers said Wednesday. Starting next month, all air traffic controllers and pilots working on international routes will require at least “level 4” operational English language proficiency, according to the revised rule of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the Ministry of Construction and Transportation said.
