Central takes over Islandia Phuket

Central Hotels & Resorts has set up a 50% joint venture in order to take over the Phuket Islandia Hotel in Karon Beach having paid 1,050 Million Baht to purchase the hotel. They will invest 150 million baht to renovate the property which has been renamed “Central Karon Beach Resort, Phuket”.

“Central Karon Beach Resort, Phuket” is a modern 4-star mid-rise resort with panoramic views of Karon Beach and the lush hinterland of hills behind.  The resort features 3 buildings with 316 rooms in a large landscaped area of Karon, complimented by 19 future villas units scattered throughout the grounds. Superior guestrooms are located in the main building offering partial or full ocean views. Deluxe and Premium Deluxe rooms are located in the Tropical and Paradise Wings. They offer larger accommodation of up to 52 sqm, and some offer ocean views. Villas are clustered around the pool area of the Garden Wing. Recreational facilities include 3 swimming pools, Centara Spa, a comprehensive range of restaurants and bars, fitness centre and sauna, 2 floodlit tennis courts, beauty salon, children’s playground, kids club, snooker room and conference centre. Full disabled facilities are available.

Karon Beach, with its 4km of fine, soft white sand, is one of the finest beaches on the lush green island of Phuket and is just a 5-minute walk from the Central Karon Beach Resort.

“This investment will increase revenue for both Central Plaza Hotel (Public) Co Ltd and Central Hotels & Resorts. Central Hotels & Resorts aims to have 22 hotels & resorts by the year 2010” said Mr. Gerd Steeb, President of Central Hotels & Resorts.
