InterConti opens second Kuwait hotel

InterContinental Hotels Group is opening the Holiday Inn Downtown Kuwait.
The opening of the stunning hotel, which offers the same enhanced levels of comfort and service that can reliably be found at any Holiday Inn hotel around the world, means that the InterContinental Hotels Group - the largest operator of hotels in the Middle East - now oversees the operations of two hotels in Kuwait. Additionally, the hotel opening brings the total number of Holiday Inn properties in the Middle East to 14.

Adjacent to the tranquil Arabian Gulf shore, the new property situated in the heart of Kuwait city, two minutes from the recognized Sharq Mall and 20kms away from Kuwait International Airport, provides the ideal base for both business and leisure travelers.

It is the second Holiday Inn property the Group operates in Kuwait, following the opening of Holiday Inn Kuwait last year. The Group also operates the ever popular Crowne Plaza Kuwait and is set to introduce its top level brand, with the opening of InterContinental Kuwait in 2007.

The 24-storey hotel offers169 beautifully appointed rooms, including 27 executive rooms and 20 suites and a state of the art executive lounge, all providing free High Speed Internet Access in addition to the free Wi-Fi Internet Access provided in all public areas.

Being strategically well-located close to the financial and business district, Holiday Inn Downtown offers a modern variety of conference and meeting facilities that can accommodate up to 400 people, with state-of-the-art video, audio and telecommunications equipment for any corporate visitors to take advantage of.

The hotel also features eight private offices, with sea and city views, secretarial offices, as well as guest work stations, positioning it as a premier business facility that delivers both comfort and value.

Speaking about the success of the Holiday Inn brand in Kuwait, Chris Moloney, Chief Operating Officer, InterContinental Hotels Group, Middle East and Africa said:

“More guests have stayed at a Holiday Inn property than at any other hotel brand in the world. From my experience, the Holiday Inn brand is met with such a favourable reaction due to the fact that it provides what is really important to our guests; a great night’s sleep, a hearty breakfast, an outstanding rewards program and last - but not least - friendly and helpful staff.”

The Downtown Restaurant, on the first floor, offers international cuisine to meet all culinary tastes, while the Square lobby lounge provides an assortment of beverages and light snacks.

The Fitness Inn health club, located on the top floor with a panoramic view of the Arabian Gulf and the city, features a modern gym, open 24 hours, an indoor swimming pool, and a variety of other recreation and relaxation facilities.

Speaking about the new property opening, Laurent Rigaud, General Manager, Holiday Inn Downtown Kuwait, said: “As a proud member of the Holiday Inn brand guests are assured of a high level of service and product that has secured Holiday Inn’s position as a global leader in the hospitality industry.”
