Villa Kennedy wins first award

Rocco Forte’s Villa Kennedy in Frankfurt, which opened its doors on 1 March 2006, has already won its first award. It claimed the prestigious Hotel & Tourism award at the MIPIM trade show in Cannes last Thursday.

MIPIM is the world’s largest annual real estate event and the MIPIM Awards recognise those companies responsible for the most remarkable property developments in the following five categories: business centres, shopping centres, refurbished office buildings, residential developments and hotel & tourism resorts.

Having made the initial short list, which was drawn up by an international jury, Villa Kennedy was chosen by the professional attendees of the trade show ahead of strong competition such as the Kruisherenhotel in Maastricht and Monte Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort in Monaco.

The Euro 72 million project, which took just over three years to complete, has been built around the existing Villa Speyer (constructed in 1904) under the direction of the developers FAY Group and London based architects Porphyrios & Associates.

Ideal for both business and leisure guests, Villa Kennedy is located on Kennedyallee, just off the south bank of the River Main.

It is built around a large inner courtyard and has 134 bedrooms and 29 suites.

The presidential suite covers 320 square metres and is the largest in Germany.  Public areas include a colonnaded Italian restaurant, Gusto, and JFK’s Bar and Lounge, both of which overlook the courtyard and will spill out on to it in warmer months.

The extensive Villa Spa is split over three levels and comprises a 15-metre indoor pool with raised relaxation area, sauna, Turkish steam room, yoga studio, gym and eight treatment rooms.

Business clients can benefit from seven meeting rooms, five of which inter-connect, for groups of 6 to 40 people. There is also a 330-square metre ballroom with its own entrance and a grand lobby that can accommodate up to 450.  All rooms have natural daylight and are equipped with the latest technology.
