Jumeirah appoints VP for Americas

Jumeirah has announced the appointment of Tom Civitano as Vice President Sales & Marketing, Americas.

The appointment follows Jumeirah’s recent management take over of the Essex House Hotel on January 15, 2006.

Mr. Civitano brings with him over 20 years of hospitality experience, having most recently served for 17 years as Executive Vice President of Marketing for The Plaza Hotel in New York City.

Civitano repositioned The Plaza as one of the greatest hotels in the world through extraordinary marketing accomplishments and achieved world-wide recognition for the hotel as one of the most award winning hotels in the industry.

During his tenure at The Plaza, Mr. Civitano also ensured that the hotel was featured in more films and television shows than any other hotel in the United States.

Civitano has honed his expertise in the hotel industry, holding previous senior positions at The Waldorf Astoria, The New York Hilton and The Tarrytown Hilton.

Frank Van der Post, Senior Vice President, Americas, of Jumeirah said, “We are extremely pleased to have Tom join our rapidly growing company. Tom will add great knowledge and experience to our team, and his hands-on expertise in New York will accelerate establishing Jumeirah as a leading luxury hotels and resorts brand in the US.”

“I am delighted to be a part of one of world’s most exciting luxury hotel groups,’ said Civitano. “I look forward to leading the regional sales and marketing teams in the successful establishment of Jumeirah as a leading luxury hotel and resort brand in the Americas.” He added, “Jumeirah’s recent entry into the New York market with the Jumeirah Essex House makes this is an extremely exciting time for me to join the company.”
