Dot travel gets website revamp

The .travel Registry unveiled at ITB a new, registrant-focused website that enables businesses to locate authenticators and registrars. The new website also makes it easier than ever for companies to complete the registration process for a .travel Internet domain.

At www.travel.travel, organizations, businesses and individuals in the travel and tourism industry can learn everything they need to know about the .travel initiative, apply for domain name eligibility through an authenticator, and register their .travel domain name(s) through one of the Registry’s registrars.

The new site also features a questions and answers section, a complete index of .travel policies and an online press room that includes a photo and multimedia library, news archives and current .travel media information.

The unveiling of www.travel.travel follows the highly anticipated official industry launch of the .travel domain. More than 16,000 .travel domains were registered during the first 16 weeks alone, with global travel industry leaders such as British Airways, Expedia, Fairmont, Kruger National Park, TUI, Raffles Hotels and Resorts, Marriott, Carnival Cruise Lines and Disney among the first to register their company’s .travel domain names.

Ron Andruff, president and CEO of Tralliance Corporation, the .travel Registry, says he is confident the launch of the new, customer-centric Registry website will further encourage travel businesses and organizations to register their .travel domain names.

“We’re getting new registrations every day from all sectors of the travel industry, from across the world.  The new .travel Registry website allows registrants to link to everything they need to get authenticated and registered from one, centralized online location,” said Andruff.

“The goal is to serve the global travel and tourism industry by making the .travel Registry site as user-friendly as possible.”

Once businesses secure their .travel domain names, they can load their company’s profile into the newly-unveiled .travel Directory, a free search tool that provides a precise catalog of virtually every product or service offered by .travel registrants for consumers as well as the travel trade seeking information.

Currently in Beta testing, the new .travel Directory (www.directory.travel) is designed to filter every profile in the system through the matrix of user-selected criteria.

Unlike most other utilities, the Directory distributes company, product and service information corresponding to each query by performing concept or co-related searches, enabling users to expeditiously find exactly what they are looking for.

To further expedite the connection between the global travel industry and consumers, content in the .travel Directory is currently presented in ten languages: English, Arabic, Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin and Malay.
