SAS debut at London City

London City Airport has welcomed it’s first Scandinavian Airlines Copenhagen flight.

Richard Gooding, Managing Director for London City Airport
who was there to welcome the flight on Sunday, is in no doubt that the Copenhagen service will be a very popular destination: “We are delighted to welcome SAS
to London City Airport, this is particularly goods news for the Airport as SAS are one of Europe’s largest airlines and the number one carrier in the Scandinavian market. To be launching Copenhagen is also very good news for the growing business community surrounding the Airport, as it is a destination which has been in strong demand.

“2005 is proving to be a good year for the Airport, our success and development will support SAS in the launch of their east London operation. Looking ahead we expect to reach a two million-passenger annual throughput by December this year. This is supported by the launch of the Docklands Light Railway on the 15 December, which puts the Airport firmly on the public transport map. In light of the recent Olympics award, East London is now very much the focus of regeneration. We will undoubtedly see a significant transformation to the area, which can only strengthen our business. We wish SAS the very best for the future.”
