United Airlines’ New ‘p.s.(SM)’ Service Takes Flight

United Airlines
announced that “p.s.(SM),” the company’s new premium service that offers
customers more space and comfort when traveling between New York and
California, started last Friday. The first flight departed Los Angeles
International Airport (LAX) at 8:50 a.m. PDT and is scheduled to arrive at
New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) at 5:03 p.m. EDT.
Once fully rolled out, United’s new p.s. service will operate seven daily
roundtrip flights between LAX and JFK and six between JFK and San
Francisco International Airport. “United’s new p.s. service offers our customers something they told us
they want and what nobody else can match today—premium space, comfort
and service,” said Martin White, senior vice president - Marketing. “With
our first p.s. flight starting today, United is truly making a difference
in how we serve high-end travelers.”

United’s p.s. service offers more space and comfort on a three-class
Boeing 757 aircraft and has 12 United First(R), 26 United Business(R) and
72 United Economy Plus(R) seats. United’s p.s. service offers the only
lie-flat seats in first class on a U.S. aircraft that operates between New
York and California and has Economy Plus throughout the entire coach cabin.

To provide customers with a superior level of service, p.s. offers access
to an adapter-free 110-volt power outlet, phone and e-mail from every
seat. The same elegant dining service customers have enjoyed during their
international travel is also offered on p.s.

To help customers pass the time, p.s. offers premium onboard entertainment
including hand-held DVD players and noise-reduction headsets to United
First and United Business customers. Customized onboard video programming
is available to customers in all classes of service via United’s overhead
entertainment system.

United will market its new p.s. service with an advertising campaign that
includes illustrations from renowned artist Sara Wilkens. The United p.s.
advertisements will appear in targeted local publications in New York, Los
Angeles and San Francisco, as well as select national entertainment and
business travel trade magazines. Some of the publications include New York
Magazine, Hampton’s, Gotham, Playbill, LA Confidential and Business
Traveler. In addition, United p.s. billboard advertisements will also be
placed in New York and Los Angeles.
