InterContinental The Barclay New York has announced plans for a new executive meeting center, scheduled to open in October 2004.Ê Named EMC2, the meeting facility will be a state-of-the art center catering to the needs of the high-end executives who frequent this Midtown business hotel.Ê EMC2 will have an on-site “meetings concierge,” available to handle any request, from assisting in A/V and presentation set-up to on-site catering.Ê The latest technology will be available, including individual wireless Internet for each delegate, webcasting facilities and three types of SMART Board interactive overlays: Rear Projection Smart Board; Flat Panel overlay on a Plasma TV; Ceiling Mounted Projector.ÊÊ

EMC2 is also introducing one-stop meeting planning services.Ê Meeting planners can simply pay a flat rate per attendee, which covers all costs including meals, A/V equipment and room hire.Ê The rooms will be available in full and half-day intervals.

EMC2 will comprise the majority of the hotel’s third floor.Ê The space will consist of four meeting rooms and two permanent boardrooms, one with a living room set up, including a fireplace, for more casual business meetings.Ê The style will be consistent with that of the hotel’s classic design, but will also feature high-tech capabilities for the modern business traveler.Ê In 2001, in celebration of its 75th anniversary, the hotel underwent an extensive rejuvenation of guest rooms, public spaces and conference areas.
