Raffles Hotels Named World’s Best

Four Raffles hotels in Singapore, USA and Switzerland have once again been named World’s Best Hotels. In the 9th Travel + Leisure survey, its readers named Raffles Hotel and Raffles The Plaza in Singapore, Raffles L’Ermitage, Beverly Hills in USA and Raffles Le Montreux Palace in Switzerland as 2004 world’s best.Flagship Raffles Hotel, Singapore (pictured) was voted one of the top 100 hotels in the world for the fourth time. The 117-year-old legendary hotel was also named one of the Top 25 Hotels in Asia this year, making it the third consecutive year. The hotel’s Rudyard Kipling suite, named after the 1907 Nobel Prize laureate for literature, was also recently heralded as one of the five Best Authors’ Suites by The Independent, a UK newspaper.
Readers of Travel + Leisure also voted Raffles Le Montreux Palace in Switzerland as one of the top 50 hotels in Europe for the third year running. Raffles Le Montreux Palace is situated on the shores of Lake Geneva, overlooking the lake and the Alps.
The luxury hotel is a jewel of Belle Époque architecture and pearl of the Swiss Riviera. Built in 1906, the hotel offers a traditional and elegant atmosphere, and a personalised and attentive service in true Swiss style. Making their debut in Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards are Raffles The Plaza, Singapore and Raffles L’Ermitage, Beverly Hills in USA. The 783-room Raffles The Plaza was voted one of the Top 25 Hotels in Asia while the Five-Diamond, Five-Star Raffles L’Ermitage was heralded a Top 100 Hotels in Continental US & Canada.
More than 425,000 subscribers of Travel + Leisure, participated in the magazine’s ninth annual survey to rank top hotels, cities, islands, cruise lines, outfitters, airlines, and car-rental agencies in the world. The hotels were rated on categories such as rooms and facilities, location, service, restaurants and food, and value.
