was named “Best Internet Shopping Service” in its category at the ninth annual EPpy Awards, joining other winners such as the online editions of The Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, USA Today, the Washington Post and CNN.

VEGAS.com, whose Spanish site, www.espanol.vegas.com
, was nominated along with its English counterpart, won in a category which included New York Newsday. The EPpy awards, which recognize the top performances by sites affiliated with the media industry, were presented today by Editor & Publisher and Mediaweek magazines at the Interactive Media Conference & Trade Show in Atlanta.

VEGAS.com, which recently surpassed the 1.7-million monthly user mark, was the only nominee from Nevada and the only travel site nominated.

VEGAS.com has won or was nominated for other prestigious awards in 2004 including a Codie Awards Nomination for Best Online Consumer Service by the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), several awards by the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association (HSMAI), and Nortel Networks who recognized the site’s leadership and innovation in IP Telephony for its call center operation.
