Lufthansa Announces Low-Carb Menu Options

Lufthansa announced today that it will begin testing low-carbohydrate meal
options beginning in July. The airline will launch the new menu offerings
on its Los Angeles to Germany routes.
LSG Sky Chefs, Lufthansa’s airline catering company, is developing the
service together with Lufthansa. It will be featured in the Business Class
menu and will include an appetizer, entree and dessert, making Lufthansa
the first airline to offer a complete low-carb meal.

The trial service will be available for two months, at which time
Lufthansa will gauge passenger response and consider expansion to other
markets.

“Our Connoisseurs on Board food and wine service, and in particular our
FLight line healthy meal options, have always received very high marks
from our Business Class passengers,” said Mathias Friess, Director of
Passenger Sales for Lufthansa in North America. “Our decision to test a
low-carb menu option responds to customer demands for even more dining
alternatives and customization during flight,” Friess added.

From its Frankfurt and Munich hubs, Lufthansa provides one of the most
extensive global networks of any major airline, flying to more than 330
destinations in nearly 90 countries worldwide, including 16 U.S. gateways.
