Pennicook reveals positive growth for Jamaica in 2003

Paul Pennicook, Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism, has said that the islands tourism figures in 2003 were incredibly positive, especially during the winter season.

In a press conference Mr. Pennicook stated that 1.34 million foreign tourists travelled to Jamaica during 2003. In comparison 1.33 million arrived in 2000. This proves positive growth following a couple of years of down turn due to the world political situation and war. Figures for 2001 equalled 1.23, and 1.27 in 2002.Growth is largely attributed to a positive marketing campaign and a good European market share.
