Eurostar Self-Packaging Enabled by Traveloptions

Fast growing operator ShortBreaks Ltd is offering agents the chance to dynamically package holidays using Eurostar, as the result of a breakthrough pioneered by systems supplier TravelOptions.
The technology innovation will enable agents to build their own breaks, combining rail journeys from Eurostar with hotels, both when booking online through ShortBreaks’ new agents-only website - www.shortbreaks4agents.com , which will go live at the end of December 03
- or through the operator’s call centre.

TravelOptions has again harnessed XML technology for its breakthrough, which the system supplier has used to create other industry firsts in recent months.

The company’s pioneering solution automatically uploads live availability directly from Eurostar’s own database into ShortBreaks’ reservations system.

When bookings are made, whether through the website or call centre, the information is sent to instantly update the reservations systems of Short Breaks, Eurostar and the hotel.

Vid Veerapen, Short Breaks general manager said: “This is a significant innovation for agents and for our industry.

Dynamic packaging is going to power further growth in the market and give agents a new-found competitive advantage.”

Michael Johnson, TravelOptions’ managing director added: “The agreement with ShortBreaks is another example of an innovative operator taking advantage of XML to steal a march in the travel market.

“It’s also another XML first from TravelOptions, of which we’re proud. We’re committed to leading the way with innovations using XML, which is rapidly becoming the travel industry’s new distribution channel.”
