Travelink gives ‘no-frill’ Access to Tour Operators

Tour operators and travel agents using the Travelink system are now able to book flights on eight no-frills airlines.  The specialist tour operator systems provider unveiled its new capability at World Travel Market in London last week.

The product is available immediately to any Travelink customer.  The company says its solution is the first to enable bookings within the system.  Cultura, one of several Travelink customers within the Thomas Cook group, is already using it.

Travelink is using screen-scraping technology developed by travel software solutions provider Multicom.  Managing director David Jones said no-frill flights could be booked inside Travelink in exactly the same way as other products.

“I believe we are unique in this regard,” Jones said.  “Other screen-scraping products simply dump the traveller at the no-frills website - we have integrated the entire looking and booking process completely within the Travelink environment.”

Travelink has designed the capability to be used in any booking channel, ensuring that tour operators and their travel agency customers can book no frills content regardless of how they connect to the system.  It is currently available for bookings made online, on Viewdata and through call centres.

No frills carriers bookable through Travelink include BMI baby, Easy Jet, FlyBE, My Travel Lite, Britannia Direct, Monarch, Jet2 and Air Scotland.

“This is the next big step in tour operator technology,” Jones said.  “For a systems provider to offer a credible full-service offering to operators it should really include no-frills content.”
