The SunBurst Resort, the only full-service resort in old-town Scottsdale, has completed the first phase in a $6 million renovation project, which will be fully concluded in October 2004.
The renovation will upgrade the property while maintaining the charm and beauty of the resort, which remains a Scottsdale favorite with guests and locals alike.

“These renovations reflect our commitment to increase the functionality of the property while capturing the local beauty and magic of the Southwest,” comments Dori Familiant, general manager of The SunBurst Resort.  “With the addition of a spa, new meeting space and wireless Internet, both business and leisure travelers will benefit from our changes.”
The first phase of the renovation, completed at the end of September, was the remodeling of meeting and public space.  New carpeting, wall coverings, chandeliers and a new ceiling were installed in the Arizona Ballroom. 
There is a total of 14,000 square feet of meeting space, consisting of thirteen meeting rooms with capacity for up to 500.
The second phase of the renovation will include the addition of a new 3,500 square foot spa, SpaTerre.  The spa will consist of seven treatment rooms, including one couples massage room.
The treatment rooms will feature ceramic claw-foot tubs and some will include private shower and toilet.
SpaTerre will also feature a wet room with Vichy Shower, facial room, manicure/pedicure room and a meditation room just off the lobby with access to the spa, fitness and pool areas.
Renovation of the porte cachere will also be completed during this phase, in which the front wall will be taken down and new fountains, torches and landscaping will be added. 
The second stage of the renovation began on November 1 and will be completed by the end of January 2004.
The resort is also going wireless.  There will be wireless Internet access in all guest rooms, lobby, pool area and conference space.  Hi-speed connectivity will be completed by January 2004. 
Renovation to all of the guest rooms will begin after the `04 season and will be completed by October 2004.  New bathrooms, carpet, armoires and beds will be updated in the guest rooms.  A minor renovation to the lobby and restaurant will also be completed at this time.
