The Ojai Valley Inn & Spa - Classic Luxury in the Land of Shangri-La

OJAI, CA—- For over seven decades, the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa has been a sophisticated escape with the feel of a private country estate. Guests come to relax and rejuvenate in an atmosphere of casual elegance and to enjoy the quiet peace of the scenic Ojai Valley that has been a special kind of Shangri-La.

As a member of Historic Hotels of America, the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa is rich in history and is a landmark of the California Central Coast. Surrounded by the Topa Topa Mountains, the Inn offers panoramic views of the valley that was portrayed as the mythical paradise of Shangri-La by film maker Frank Capra in his 1937 classic, “Lost Horizon.”

The Inn`s original design is by noted California architect Wallace Neff, whose signature Spanish Colonial style features terra cotta tile roofs, decorative iron work and tiles, flagstone terraces and wood beams and corbels. Located on 220 tree-shaded acres with expansive gardens, the Inn`s ten buildings create the feeling of a Spanish estate. The historic resort`s 206 guest rooms and suites—some with wood-burning fireplaces—provide spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and the rolling hills of the golf course. In the original 1923 Hacienda building, each room has been redecorated in the Spanish Colonial style with four-poster beds, carved furniture, and carefully restored hardwood floors and decorative tile from the 1920s. Other rooms and suites on the property have been recently renovated in a contemporary interpretation of the style of early California.

Hailed as a “marvel of golfing architecture” the course has been made famous by the professionals and celebrities who have chosen it for exhibition play and competition. Site of seven Senior PGA TOUR events, and the EMC Golf Skills Challenge seen on NBC television, the 6,235-yard course is par 70 and is a GOLF Magazine medalist.

The Ojai Valley Inn & Spa is a haven for those seeking to enjoy a variety of recreational activities in the valley`s clean air and moderate year-round temperatures. Horseback riding at the Inn`s own Ranch & Stables take guests beyond the sites and sounds of civilization on trails through canyons and meadows. Guided hiking and bird watching tours in the Los Padres National Forest and at nearby Lake Casitas offer adventure and education. The Inn has three heated swimming pools, two outdoor whirlpools, health club and exercise facility, and a full service tennis center with eight hard courts.
