Wyndham International is rolling out a new wireless check-in/check out service to simplify registration and reduce wait times at the front desk.
Wyndham`s large conference hotels and destination resorts in the U.S. and select Caribbean properties will receive the new service during the next 18 months via technology developed by MICROS Systems.
Due to existing integrated property management systems, Wyndham is the first U.S.-based hotel chain to be able to seamlessly implement wireless check-in. Currently, the new technology is live at the Wyndham Dallas Market Center.
Last June, Wyndham selected Columbia, Md.-based micros for fully integrated property management, reservations, customer relationship management and yield management systems. MICROS`s Oracle-based suite of products, called the OPERA Enterprise Solution, and its OPERAPalm, a wireless hand-held device with real-time database access developed with Holtsville, N.Y.-based Symbol Technologies serve as the technology foundation for Wyndham`s new curbside check-in capability.
With Wyndham`s new wireless registration capabilities, arriving guests will be greeted curbside, asked for their name and a credit card.
OPERAPalms will then be used to wirelessly obtain credit card authorisation, record the guests` signature and programme a guest room key card. Upon check out, wireless printers will print the guest folio and a receipt.
