British tourist beheaded in Tenerife

A British woman was killed and beheaded in a supermarket on the Spanish island of Tenerife infront of tourists in what appears to have been a random attack, according to reports.

The woman, in her 60s, was in a shop in the town of Arona, which is located 10 miles from the popular beach resort of Los Christianos, when she was stabbed and then decapitated.

A 28-year old unemployed Bulgarian man has been arrested in connection with the crime.

Eyewitnesses reported that the woman had wondered into the supermarket at approximately 10.30am before a man walked in with a knife and attacked her. According to their reports he then walked out into the street carrying her head before dropping it and running away. But he was pinned down and arrested by security guards and police.

The Foreign Office revealed that the woman’s family have been informed of the attack. They confirmed that a British national had died but they were unable to comment further.
