Boingo Wireless announces Wi-Fi services at two Milan airports

Boingo Wireless, Inc, the Wi-Fi industry’s leading provider of software and services worldwide, has launched managed Wi-Fi services in the Malpensa (MXP) and Linate (LIN) airports in Milan, Italy, as part of an agreement with Societa per Azioni Esercizi Aeroportuali (SEA).

“Milan is the business and financial hub of Italy, making this a perfect entry point for Boingo,” said Bjorn Thorngren, director of business development in EMEA for Boingo Wireless. “With more than 27 million passengers per year between them, there is a considerable audience for Boingo’s global access services that extend beyond the airports to more than 325,000 hotspots around the world.”

As part of the agreement, Boingo will broadcast its “Boingo Hotspot” SSID and fully manage the end user experience through walled garden sales pages and gateway hardware. The network will also be available to Boingo’s roaming partners iPass, KT, NTT Communications, Optimus, Orange France, Skype, Sprint, Swisscom, Telefonica, TeliaSonera, and Verizon as part of Boingo’s neutral host approach to managing Wi-Fi hotspots.

Travelers in the two airports will be able to choose from three Boingo access plans: Boingo Europe Plus, providing unlimited access throughout Europe for €27.95 per month; Boingo Global, providing flat rate access anywhere in the world for €49 per month; and Boingo AsYouGo, providing a 24-hour day pass at the airport for €10.95.

This brings the total number of airport Wi-Fi networks under management to 60, including top 25 airports Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta, Chicago O?Hare, London Heathrow, New York John F. Kennedy, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, and Houston George Bush Intercontinental, as well as other European airports such as London Gatwick, London Stansted, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Southampton, Aberdeen and Zurich.
