Leading car rental company Avis, has announced the launch of a pilot service at Edinburgh airport, giving customers mobile connectivity while on-the-go.

Whether travelling for business or leisure, the portable hotspots, which are small enough to fit in a pocket or bag, will give Avis customers instant internet access while in the UK, allowing easy access to emails, documents and even social networking sites.

Prices start at £8.50 per day.

Avis’ Mobile Wi-Fi offers customers a convenient and affordable internet solution anytime, anywhere - a real benefit for those who don’t want to be confined to Wi-Fi ‘hotspots’ or pay the high daily rates and roaming charges associated with smartphones whilst travelling abroad.

The new service can be booked through Avis’ call centres and the portable hotspots collected at the Avis branch at Edinburgh Airport.

Users can connect to up to five devices at once – meaning laptops, smartphones, tablets and even game consoles can access the internet simultaneously, enabling several passengers to use the internet at the same time at no extra charge.

Avis customers can surf, stream and download content while the capped daily fee ensures no additional costs are incurred.

The product is ideal for business travellers, holidaying families and groups of friends – anyone who requires an affordable, flexible, on-the-go internet access solution.

Avis’ Mobile Wi-Fi can be booked through all of Avis’ European websites and call centres for pick-up at Avis stations at Edinburgh Airport.

Wi-Fi is also available at Dusseldorf Airport, Berlin Tegel Airport, Munich Airport, Hanover Airport, Hamburg Airport, Stuttgart Airport and Frankfurt Airport in Germany.
