Sandals Emerald Bay raises the luxury stakes

When the stunning 500-acre Sandals Emerald Bay, Great Exuma opened in early 2010, it raised the bar for excellence in the Bahamas. But rather than resting on its laurels as the world’s leading all-inclusive brand, Sandals has continued to reinvent and improve the resort.

One of the areas of enhancement has been the championship Sandals Emerald Reef golf course. A beautiful new club house has been built at the golf course, complete with a library area, poker table, bar and buffet area and a large exterior deck with mini bar.

The resort’s new golf pro, Kevin Mumford, has also introduced a variety of activities to create a fun and comprehensive experience for golfers of all levels. Now on offer are sessions such as “Golf Scramble and Soiree” and “Play with Pro”, as well as a complimentary golf clinic and golf course tours.

Other features at the truly luxurious resort include five restaurants, an 18-hole Greg Norman-designed championship golf course, full-service marina and 183 beachview rooms and suites.

In its first year in operation, Sandals Emerald Bay Great Exuma, Bahamas was voted “Bahamas’ Leading Spa Resort” for the Red Lane Spa, a spectacular 29,000 sq. ft. tropical sanctuary for mind, body and soul. Classic European rituals infused with a distinctive Caribbean flair are dispensed in 16 serene treatment rooms, steam wet room, relaxation areas, a fitness center with Yoga and Pilates indoor/outdoor studios, and private beachside gazebos offering a truly exotic experience.

At the Sandals Emerald Reef Golf Club, spokesman Greg Norman also has an active role in the Golf Academy and golf packages, events, and tournaments.

The gold legend said; “Emerald Bay is probably one of the most beautiful bays you’ll ever want to see anywhere in the world. This is a golf course that you can go out and have fun.”

Norman’s Championship course features six signature ocean-side holes, along with holes that wind through seaside dunes and mangrove preserves, offering unparalleled views of the turquoise Caribbean waters.

Further additions to Sandals Emerald Bay include a beautiful Concierge Lounge, which follows the introduction of 144 Concierge category suites in addition to the remaining 69 butler suites. This elegant lounge offers Concierge guests a calm and relaxing area to enjoy their welcome glass of Champagne whilst they complete their VIP check-in.

The range of nightly entertainment at the resort has been increased, with new activities including a weekly Junakanoo Street party and laid back beach party.

Furthermore, a Junkanoo Lounge has been created with a fully equipped bar, a stage and dance floor, which comes alive every night with scintillating entertainment activities.

Overseeing all of the exciting updates at Sandals Emerald Bay is the resort’s new General Manager, Jeremy Mutton. A veteran of the hospitality industry, he begun his role at the luxurious Sandals Emerald Bay earlier this year, managing staff and the overall guest experience at the 500-acre beachfront property. Jeremy has been with Sandals Resorts International since 2002, when he became Food and Beverage Manager at Sandals Royal Caribbean.

He then went on the leverage himself to the General Manager at Sandals Royal Bahamian where he was renowned for exceeding guests’ expectations. Mutton assumes full responsibility of bringing Sandals Resorts Chairman, Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart’s continued vision to life by successfully carrying out the day-to-day operations of the luxurious Sandals Emerald Bay resort.
