Eric Clapton to kick off Abu Dhabi concert season

Eric Clapton, the only three-time inductee to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, is to kick off the Abu Dhabi concert season by playing a concert at Yas Island.

The one-off show in Yas Arena on 11 February is expected to provide an unforgettable opener for the concert season in Abu Dhabi.

The legendary guitarist, described by his peers as the most influential guitarist that ever lived, has cultivated a fan base of millions with a catalogue of hits that spans decades.

Clapton is the only three-time inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: once as a solo artist, and separately as a member of The Yardbirds and Cream. He ranked fourth in Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” and fourth in Gibson’s Top 50 Guitarists of All Time.

Yas Arena is the beautiful open-air concert venue on Yas Island, and the perfect place to hear him play live.

Other events on Yas that weekend include an all-action weekend, as the “Real Action Heroes” and their V8 Supercars hit Yas Marina Circuit for two days of racing on February 11 and 12.

The following weekend, the island will host the Dutch techno DJ Tiesto at the Flash Forum. The performance is the much-anticipated rescheduled stop on Tiesto’s Kaleidoscope World Tour.

On March 11, the American rock band 30 Seconds to Mars, headed by the actor Jared Leto, will take over the Flash Forum for their first show in the Middle East.

The final show of the spring series will bring Motown legend Stevie Wonder to the island on March 18.
