Travel giant TUI has reported a sharp fall in bookings in the UK market for summer 2012 when compared to last year. Overall, TUI saw bookings drop 11 per cent, with the fall partially attributed to a nine per cent reduction in capacity.

TUI UK has confirmed it will re-brand its high street retail outlets by introducing “Thomson….. featuring First Choice” to increase presence and develop its position. TUI Group has seen underlying profits before tax slip during the third quarter of financial 2011, with EBITA decreasing by 11 per cent to €96 million from €108 million the previous year. In a set of mixed results, Europe’s largest tour operator said political turmoil in North Africa – particularly Egypt – was responsible for the loss.
