TUI Travel launches MyThomson app

TUI Travel, a FTSE 100 company and owners of Thomson, is putting holiday planning in the palm of its holidaymakers’ hands as it rolls out the MyThomson app to all Thomson customers following a successful trial with travellers.

During the trial more than 15,000 holidaymakers downloaded the app and their reviews have given it a four-star rating in the Apple App Store – as well as a spot in the Top 20 most popular travel apps.

Now it is being made available to all Thomson customers, TUI Travel expect the app to reach 50,000 downloads by the end of September. 

An exciting industry first, the app provides a ‘one stop shop’ for all the information Thomson customers need at their fingertips once they have booked their holiday.

It will also help save time at the airport, putting an end to the days of searching for a piece of paper to find out the flight number or departure time, as it includes everything from flight information and luggage allowance details, to maps to help customers plan the best route to the airport.

Another feature, which proved popular during the trials, is the holiday-countdown timer, which cleverly tells users how many days, hours, minutes and seconds remain until their holiday starts – and post it to Facebook and Twitter, to share with family and friends.

Customers can also use the MyThomson app to check the current weather and the temperature in their resort destination.

Thomson holiday destinations all have access to Wi-Fi, so even whilst on holiday travellers can use the app to book last minute excursions. It also provides holidaymakers with access to destination guides.
